Experience our sunflower workshops, where creativity blossoms amidst nature’s beauty. Engage in hands-on activities inspired by the vibrant sunflowers. Each workshop offers an exclusive after-hours opportunity to visit the sunflower fields, capture beautiful photos, and take blooms home!
Design your own vase filled with summer’s star bloom, sunflowers. Choose from an array of bright blooms from our 6+ acre sunflower field, complemented with zinnias, celosias, and other beautiful local flowers. Our instructor, Lisa Derx, will give a demonstration, sharing how to select the best blooms, how to condition them for maximum vase life, and design tips to showcase your creativity. We’ll have snacks and snips, and enjoy getting to know each other while learning new skills and being inspired by our own and other’s imaginative designs. Each participant will take home their own design in a glass vase. Class will take place at the Red Barn.
Enhance your visit to the annual Clarksville Sunflower Festival with a watercolor sunflower workshop! The beauty of summer sunflowers is captivating, and their bright smiling faces are the perfect subject for the flowing and transparent medium of watercolor. In this class, we’ll experiment with both wet-in-wet applications and dry brush techniques to create the depth and texture of yellow, maroon, and purple sunflower petals surrounding a rich brown bed of seeds. All materials are supplied, and every participant will take home their own ready-to-frame matted watercolor sunflower painting! Wine will be provided for those of age too! Class will take place at the Inn Sunroom.
Join us for an evening of sunflower filled fun! Learn how to decorate some beautiful sunflower inspired sugar cookies and enjoy the gorgeous blooms at Mary’s Land Farm. Cookie decorating will be from 6-8pm on Thursday August 29th. Your ticket includes guided instruction by Marianne Fahmy, owner of Live & Love Cakes in Ellicott City, supplies to decorate five vanilla sugar cookies and after-hours access to the beautiful sunflower fields to PYO bloom! Class will take place at the Red Barn.
